Earlier last week, the Conservative-led Borough Council agreed their recommended budget for the forthcoming year ahead. The budget is a testament to the strong fiscal competence of the Conservative led-council and the work of local Conservative councillors.
The Budget includes:
- A Council Tax Freeze for the seventh year in a row
- No Cuts to Front Line Services
- An additional grass cut across the Borough
- £30 million of capital expenditure, including £13.3million on building affordable homes.
In addition, the Conservative Administration, listening and agreeing with the concerns of local people about fly tipping in the borough, announced that they would set up a task force, with sufficient funding, to address this issue. Urgent discussions will now take place, with the full proposal to go before Cabinet and the Council shortly.
Cllr. John Dean, Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Council said “We all want to live in a clean and tidy community and that is why we are taking steps to directly address the problem of fly tipping in our borough. This measure is just one of many which will help improve the lives of local people throughout Welwyn Hatfield. I am proud that thanks to our hard work, we have been able to freeze council tax for seven years in a row, whilst also being able to support vulnerable people; increase grass cuts and take steps to tackle fly-tipping and invest in the affordable housing we need in the borough.”
