Serial fundraiser and Borough Councillor Terry Mitchinson dropped in on the Riding for the Disabled centre at Digswell Place, near Welwyn, to hand over his sponsorship cash from the annual Rotary Walk.
Terry, now a member of Welwyn Hatfield Council cabinet, raised £538.
While at the centre he was joined by Rotarian Andy Forrow and the pair were given a tour of the facilities.
Chair of Trustees Sue Clarke thanked Terry for his “very generous donation.”
Terry said: “I was really impressed with what is happening at Digswell Place RDA. It has grown significantly since I last visited and provides a truly valuable service.”
The annual walk, organised by the Rotary Clubs of WGC and Hatfield, has been going for more than 20 years.
Terry has participated in all but one of them.
Andy said: "Terry is a great example to people who want to contribute to their community in a positive way. Eleven miles is the goal for all walkers and runners, however much they raise.
“It's a great fun event and will be again in 2019. We have great respect for all people who take part, like Terry."
The centre has been chosen as Mayor Barbara Fitzsimon’s charity of the year. For more details log on to www.digswellplacerda.org.uk or call 01707 332159.
