A couple of months ago the Royal British Legion made a public appeal for volunteers for this year’s Poppy Appeal. The Conservatives answered. For all those who stood outside the train station in the early hours of the morning, who stood outside Asda on those cold winter days and for everyone else who helped raise money for the British Legion we thank you for making the 2013 Poppy Appeal a great success story in Welwyn Hatfield.
In total Welwyn Hatfield Conservatives raised £3565.60p. This is a fantastic achievement as it helped the RBL achieve a 50% rise in donations when compared to last year, which is quite remarkable. This is yet another example of how strong we are as a community and we would like to say a big thank you to the volunteers for making this and many other campaigns a great success. Without you they could not be achieved. Also many thanks to the local councillors who played their part in the Appeal it was a collective effort and we should all be very proud of the community spirit in Welwyn Hatfield.
