Today the Prime Minister outlined our roadmap for a return to normality, as we gradually move away from the restrictions COVID-19 has forced us to endure.
From the 8th of March, we will begin "Step 1" - schools and colleges will re-open for all students, and it will become permissible to meet one other person from a different household outdoors for exercise or recreation.
From the 29th March, up to six people from two different households will be able to meet outdoors. At this point organised outdoor for children and adults will also resume, as will all outdoor children's activities.
From April 12th (at the earliest), other restrictions will gradually be stripped back, and provided there are no more serious setbacks, the government hopes to lift all restrictions on physical contact on 21st June (at the earliest - subject to review).
This approach balances the need to allow time for the nationwide vaccination process to play out and for pressure on the NHS to gradually reduce with the needs of business, the economy and the general public's need to return to normality.
