Friday 11th of October was a special night for the Welwyn Hatfield Conservatives but even more so for all the members of Conservative Future. This was the first time that the Conservatives had a table exclusive to Conservative Future members which teamed with the appearance of the Education Secretary made it a very enjoyable night for the young generation. It was a great feeling for me to be part of the Conservative Future table and it really feels like we are building a party for the future and a party to be proud of.
However meeting Michael Gove was the highlight of my evening by far. He was very open and honest with our table and allowed us to ask any questions we wanted about education which he was happy to answer. Other tables looked on as Mr Gove made a special effort with the Conservative Future table taking pictures and even recording a personal video message for 2 of the pupils politics teacher.
His speech was also very inspiring and really emphasised on the Conservative Party rewarding hard working people. He spoke of the hard work he is doing and how he is trying to improve all forms of education to give the young generation the best skill set possible before they leave school and get into the job market. He also gave a special recognition to Grant Shapps and emphasised the importance of having Grant as our MP and how what Grant has done over the past 12 years is recognised widely within the party. After his speech Mr Gove also took questions from the floor answering questions about A-Levels, the future of education and the relationship between a good education being a fundamental factor, to try and increase the number of pupils getting a job when they leave school and not living on welfare.
It was a fantastic evening and as a member of Conservative Future I have been inspired even more to be involved in what is a strong and growing party and to help in moving this party forward in building success at the next election.
